Mike Tolomia takes charge as Belo-less Phoenix keeps record unblemished with rout of Aguilas

Phoenix delivered a dominant performance, routing Topstar ZC Mindanao Aguilas 126-77 in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena. Mike Tolomia led the Phoenix attack with a strong all-around game of 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists. Ed Daquioag contributed 17 points and Gryann Mendoza added 15 points for the winning side.

Phoenix played without Mac Belo, the Aspirants Cup MVP, who was serving a one-game suspension after being ejected in their previous game against the Blustar Dragons. Coach Eric Gonzales stated he wanted to see the "original Phoenix" from the last conference following their fourth win, and he observed that level of play from his team.

After a sloppy start, the Accelerators shifted into high gear in the second period, building a 55-36 halftime lead. They maintained their undefeated record, now standing at 5-0. Their lead expanded significantly throughout the game, reaching a peak of 53 points following a Mendoza layup late in the contest.

Gino Jumao-As scored 12 points for the Aguilas, who suffered their fifth consecutive loss, dropping to 0-5. The final score saw Phoenix win decisively with quarterscores of 23-17, 56-40, 88-53, and 126-77.
