Marc Marquez secured his ninth world title and seventh MotoGP crown by finishing as the runner-up to his teammate Francesco Bagnaia in the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi, which was the 17th round of the 22-round 2025 MotoGP World Championship.
Bagnaia's victory in a perfect weekend reduced Alex Marquez's advantage in the battle for second place to 66 points, with five rounds remaining in the season. Marco Bezzecchi trails Bagnaia by 32 points, while Joan Mir climbed to 15th in the standings after achieving a debut podium finish with Honda.
Pedro Acosta of KTM dropped to sixth place, falling behind Franco Morbidelli, after his early podium challenge ended when he went through the gravel during the race.
