The Cleveland Cavaliers, despite salary cap constraints, have been active this offseason and may make further moves. Previously, Chris Fedor reported the Cavaliers explored trading Dean Wade, with the Dallas Mavericks showing interest.
NBA insider Jake Fischer provided an update, confirming there have been conversations about Wade this summer, noting many teams view him as a low-cost, versatile defender. Fischer clarified that significant trade discussions involving Wade occurred earlier when the Cavaliers were pursuing a deal that ultimately landed Lonzo Ball. At that time, Cleveland considered trading either Isaac Okoro or Dean Wade, and they ultimately traded Okoro for Ball.
Fischer stated he hasn't recently checked the trade market for Wade but indicated the last information suggested it was an "either/or" situation between Wade and Okoro. Consequently, he does not anticipate a Wade trade happening soon.
It makes sense for the Cavaliers to have chosen between Okoro or Wade, as both are elite defensive players capable of three-point shooting, though Okoro had a significantly larger contract. Given Fischer's report, it remains uncertain if the Cavaliers will trade Wade before next season starts.
