NBA Power Rankings: Where do Knicks stand after massive offseason?

The NBA offseason has largely concluded, leading to an initial assessment of the 2025-26 NBA Power Rankings, including the New York Knicks' standing.

The Brooklyn Nets' situation stems from trading their own first-round picks to Houston for James Harden, then sending Kevin Durant to Phoenix for future Suns picks. They later swapped these Phoenix picks with Houston to regain their original 2025 and 2026 first-round selections. This timing proved critical as the Suns subsequently traded Durant back to Houston. Consequently, the Nets must perform poorly in the 2025-26 season to capitalize on the high value of their reacquired draft picks; failing to bottom out would render the entire sequence of trades involving Harden and Durant meaningless.

For the Utah Jazz, drafting Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr. represents significant successes. However, despite these additions, the team remains far from being a serious contender in the highly competitive Western Conference.
