Nottingham Forest enter race to sign €60m Chelsea player

Chelsea initially focused on strengthening their squad during the transfer window by signing Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, and Liam Delap. However, the club has recently shifted towards a pattern of player departures, with notable exits including Noni Madueke, Djordje Petrovic, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Christopher Nkunku is now widely expected to leave Chelsea, having struggled to establish himself since his £52 million arrival from RB Leipzig in 2023. Several clubs, including Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Manchester United, and Newcastle United, have been linked as potential destinations for the French international.

According to reports from Simon Phillips (via The Chelsea Chronicle), Nottingham Forest has now also registered interest in signing Nkunku. Forest, who finished seventh and qualified for the Conference League, are looking to improve their squad for European competition. Nkunku is believed to prefer staying in the Premier League.

Chelsea are reportedly seeking a fee of around £43 million for the versatile player. Despite contributing to Chelsea's Club World Cup win, scoring a crucial goal against Benfica, Nkunku's future appears to lie elsewhere due to the arrival of new forwards and Cole Palmer's strong performances. His final destination remains uncertain.
