AC Milan have terminated goalkeeper Devis Vasquez's contract by mutual consent, allowing him to join a new club as a free agent.
Vasquez originally joined Milan from Guarani in January 2023 for approximately €900k. However, he spent most of his time away from the club on loan: first at Sheffield Wednesday for six months, then at Ascoli for another six months, and finally at Empoli for a full season.
Empoli held an option to make his loan move permanent, but following their relegation to Serie B, they declined to exercise it. Consequently, Milan and Vasquez agreed to terminate his contract, as confirmed by an official statement on the club's website.
The club's statement read: "AC Milan can confirm the termination of Devis Vásquez’s contract by mutual consent. The club would like to wish him all the best for the next stage of his career."
Financially, this termination means Milan will not recoup any transfer fee for Vasquez and will write down the remaining €200k of his book value on their accounts. While the club will save a nominal amount on wages, the primary motivation for the mutual termination was to facilitate the goalkeeper's move to a new club.
