Padres announce that they've signed all 19 of their 2025 Draft picks

The San Diego Padres announced on Thursday that they have signed their entire 19-player 2025 MLB Draft class, along with 11 non-drafted free agents. Left-handed pitcher Kruz Schoolcraft, their first-round selection at No. 25 overall, headlined the class and signed for approximately $3.6 million, matching his slot value as reported by MLB Pipeline's Jim Callis.

Facing a deadline to sign draft picks by Monday, the Padres operated with constraints, including the loss of their second-round pick as a penalty for signing qualified free agent Nick Pivetta in the offseason. This resulted in one of the lowest bonus pools in the majors. To navigate this, the team prioritized college players during Day 2 of the draft, with 16 of their 19 selections coming from the college ranks. They also drafted two high-school catchers: Ty Harvey from Inspiration Academy in Florida in the fifth round and Truitt Madonna from Ballard High School in Washington in the 11th round.

Specific bonuses for the high-school catchers were not disclosed, but the Padres emphasized their potential. Chris Kemp, the vice president of amateur and international scouting, noted that Harvey and Madonna are "ultra-physical athletic catchers that can hit" with strong bat-to-ball skills and in-game power. Kemp expressed enthusiasm for the college players as well, highlighting third-round pick Ryan Wideman, a center fielder from Western Kentucky, and fourth-round selection Michael Salina, a right-handed pitcher from St. Bonaventure. This group includes catcher Jake Bold (Princeton), pitchers Tyler Dietz (Florida Institute of Technology), Nick Falter (Denison), Brandon Langley (Western Carolina), Cameron Nohos (Illinois-Chicago), Cal Riehl (Wingate), and Charlie Walker (Northeastern), as well as infielders Bradley Frye (Mercer) and Dawson Willis (Oklahoma), and outfielders Qrey Lott (Northwest Florida State) and Conner Westenburg (McNeese State).
