Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, prioritizes his family above all else, even as the NFL season resumes and his focus shifts between his family and team commitments. During the offseason, he spends more time with his wife Brittany and their children, but with practices restarting for the 2025-26 season, Brittany ensures the family remains close, frequently visiting him at work.
In the first week of practice, Brittany surprised Mahomes with a visit, bringing their children, Bronze and Sterling, to Missouri Western. This marked the family's first visit as the team prepared for the new season, a common occurrence during practice times but notable for this early stage. Reporters Pete Grathoff and Tammy Ljungblad from the Kansas City Star documented the event on July 30, highlighting that the Mahomes family typically misses spring "bring your kids to work day" due to the NFL offseason, making this visit special.
Ljungblad captured photos of the family on the field, including an adorable image of Mahomes with his 2-year-old son, Bronze, emphasizing the personal connection during team activities.
Looking ahead to the season, Mahomes is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the league by ESPN for the 2025-26 season, based on input from coaches, executives, and scouts. However, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler noted that Mahomes' hold on the top spot is slightly weakening, as he received about 60% of first-place votes this year, down from nearly unanimous support in the previous season.
Despite this, Fowler emphasized that Mahomes continues to lead the NFL in key passing categories—such as yards, touchdowns, and yards per attempt—since becoming a starter in 2018, underscoring his dominant performance. Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills ranked second, and Joe Burrow placed third in the quarterback rankings.
With less than two months until the Chiefs' first regular-season game, Mahomes' top ranking is expected to provide positive momentum as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
