Lindy Waters III has agreed to a one-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs, ending his time with the Detroit Pistons. ESPN's Shams Charania reported the deal, confirmed by Waters' agents from Klutch Sports.
Waters played college basketball at Oklahoma State for four years, starting 105 of his 121 NCAA games. He averaged 10 points, two assists, and four rebounds per game, shooting 43% from the field and 39% from three-point range during his college career.
Undrafted in 2020, Waters began his professional career outside the NBA before signing with the G League in October 2021. He earned a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder shortly after, converting it to a standard deal a year later.
He was traded to the Golden State Warriors last summer and spent most of the 2023-2024 season there. Before the trade deadline, Waters was moved again as part of a five-team trade involving Jimmy Butler, landing with the Detroit Pistons alongside Dennis Schroder. He made 14 appearances for Detroit, averaging 3 points and 1 rebound per game while shooting 36% from the field and 40% from three.
Throughout his four NBA seasons (with Oklahoma City, Golden State, and Detroit), Waters holds career averages of 5 points and 2 rebounds per game. He has shot 40% overall from the field and 37% from three-point range.
