Former PBA player JR Quiñahan, a native of Mandaue City and current player for the Cebu Greats in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, was severely affected by Typhoon Tino, which devastated parts of Cebu province. The 6-foot-5 athlete and his family endured a traumatic experience as floodwaters swept away nearly all their belongings, leaving them with almost nothing.
In a video shared on Facebook, Quiñahan was seen shaking his head in disbelief while checking on his vehicle, expressing that they had lost everything from appliances to clothing, stating they were "back to zero." Despite this immense loss, he and his family remained thankful that all members survived the ordeal unharmed.
Amid the chaos, Quiñahan and his team managed to assist their neighbors by rescuing a three-month-old baby, an elderly couple, and another senior citizen. A social media post attributed to his partner, Ma RY, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing gratitude for their safety and the timely rescue efforts, even though some vehicles like motorcycles were lost to the flood currents.
