Radhika Yadav death: Murdered tennis player cremated, father says he was taunted for living off her income

Former state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was cremated in Gurugram on the evening of Friday, July 11, 2025. This occurred one day after her father, Deepak Yadav (49), allegedly shot her dead.

Deepak Yadav confessed to the crime, telling police he was motivated by being taunted for living off her income from a tennis academy. He was produced in court on Friday and remanded to one-day police custody.

The postmortem report, conducted by a board of three doctors, revealed that the 25-year-old Radhika Yadav sustained four bullet wounds: three in her back and one in her shoulder. Following the postmortem, her body was released to the family and taken to their village in Wazirabad for last rites.

Approximately 150 people, including her grieving family, attended the funeral. The cremation was marked by stunned silence and tears. Her brother, Dheeraj, lit the funeral pyre.

Mourners expressed shock and disbelief at the murder, questioning how Deepak Yadav could have killed his daughter, reportedly the one he loved the most.
