Dutch defender Robin Propper has returned to FC Twente from Rangers on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year contract with the Eredivisie club. The 31-year-old centre-half spent only one season with the Scottish Premiership side.
Propper stated that his departure from Rangers was prompted by new head coach Russell Martin informing him he was not part of the manager's plans for the team.
Despite the move back to Twente, where he was previously captain, Propper expressed no regrets about joining Rangers. He described the opportunity to play for the "major international team" as something he "couldn't pass up," calling it "a great year, both personally and in terms of sport," filled with "new experiences" and "a lot of beautiful moments." He characterized his time at Rangers as "a great adventure at a beautiful club with a rich history," something he always wanted in his career.
Propper described the choice to return to Twente, where he feels the team spirit "is so strong," as "not difficult." He also reflected that his time living abroad in Glasgow was "an eye-opener," giving him insight into the challenges foreign players face adapting to a new country, noting they "need attention and time." He emphasized he was glad to have experienced it.
