Real Madrid have signaled they won't make further signings without player sales first. However, backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin will not be allowed to leave the club. Despite extending his contract until 2030 after previously having only one year left, Lunin remains a target for other European clubs.
Newcastle United made a €3 million loan offer for Lunin, but Real Madrid immediately rejected it. The club informed Newcastle that Lunin is neither for sale nor available for loan. Manager Eddie Howe seeks goalkeeper reinforcements, but Real Madrid value Lunin as their backup, and he intends to compete with Thibaut Courtois for the starting position.
Manchester United are also reportedly monitoring Lunin's situation, with links to a move to Old Trafford emerging in recent months. Previous reports suggested Real Madrid might consider offers exceeding €20 million for Lunin, but their current stance indicates this perspective may have changed.
Last summer, reports indicated Real Madrid might have been open to selling Lunin for the right price and to the right club. Lunin made 14 appearances last season. While Courtois is set to extend his contract, his recurring injury issues over recent seasons likely contribute to Real Madrid's desire to retain a strong backup option like Lunin.
