Real Madrid refuse to meet key player’s demand for renewal; open to sale in 2026 if no agreement reached

However, a recent report from Cadena SER reveals disagreements that could jeopardize the renewal. Vinicius Jr.'s primary demand is reportedly a salary equal to Kylian Mbappé's, a request Real Madrid found surprising and even amusing.

Real Madrid did not anticipate this demand, particularly after what they viewed as an underwhelming season for Vinicius where he struggled for momentum. The club contrasts this with Mbappé, who was their standout player last season and won the Pichichi trophy in his first La Liga campaign.

Consequently, Real Madrid is unwilling to offer Vinicius the same salary as Mbappé. The club believes there is time to resolve the situation as his current contract doesn't expire until 2026.

Madrid's refusal has created a stalemate in the negotiations, despite an agreement previously seeming close. Vinicius Jr. appears unhappy with the prospect of being the squad's second-highest earner, even though the club has offered him a chance to improve his performances and renegotiate terms later.
