Rodrygo’s Real Madrid exit window closes after Premier League decision

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes is likely to remain at the club this summer following developments in the Premier League transfer market. The Brazilian international discussed his future with manager Xabi Alonso after experiencing a reduced role during the FIFA Club World Cup, where Real Madrid were eliminated 4-0 by PSG in the semi-finals.

Despite Alonso previously labeling Rodrygo as "important," his lack of playing time in the USA fueled speculation and Premier League links. Arsenal had been linked with a move for him as part of a significant spending window under Mikel Arteta. When that interest did not lead to a formal offer, reigning Premier League champions Liverpool were next linked with the player.

However, Real Madrid reportedly set a minimum asking price of around €75 million. Both Arsenal and Liverpool ultimately decided against meeting this valuation and pursued other attacking targets instead. Liverpool signed Huge Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt and are considering a record offer for Newcastle's Alexander Isak. Arsenal completed the signing of Swedish international Viktor Gyokeres.

According to Diario AS, these signings effectively end the interest in Rodrygo from both Arsenal and Liverpool. Staying at Real Madrid is reportedly not a major issue for either Rodrygo or Alonso, as the player remains a key squad member, especially amidst ongoing uncertainty over Vinicius Junior's contract extension.
