In the match, O'Sullivan started strongly with a break of 63 and extended his lead with an impressive 128 clearance. Although Yao Pengcheng, ranked 118th in the world, reduced the deficit with a 55 break and had opportunities to level, O'Sullivan reasserted control with breaks of 53 and 54, securing his place to face Scotland's Stephen Maguire in the next round.
