NBA 2K announced on July 9 that Chicago Sky superstar Angel Reese will grace the cover of the WNBA edition of NBA 2K26. The cover art depicts Reese driving to the basket while wearing her new signature Reebok shoes, accompanied by the slogan "She's got next".

While the cover reveal generated mostly positive reactions, some fans expressed the opinion that other players were more deserving of the honor than Reese, a player who has only completed one full professional season. Despite this criticism, the cover recognition is considered a major achievement for Reese.

New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, who was the WNBA cover athlete for NBA 2K24, commented on Reese's selection after her team's practice on July 11. Ionescu emphasized the global significance and anticipation surrounding the 2K cover, stating she was "really happy" for Reese to receive such recognition early in her career and understood how much it meant, drawing from her own experience.
