Scott Barnes is competing to retain his Shifter Masters class title at the Skusa Pro Tour SummerNationals this weekend at New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana. Currently third in the standings, he remains mathematically in contention as the series concludes with its final two rounds.
Barnes acknowledged the need for luck to win the championship, stating, "It's racing – anything can happen." He emphasized focusing on controllable factors and accepting outcomes as they unfold, adding that victory requires a perfect weekend from him and some misfortune for rivals. Despite a recent extended break from karting, he expressed confidence due to familiarity with the track, having raced there multiple times.
In the SpringNationals held in Cincinnati in May, Barnes secured two podium finishes. He was declared the winner of round three after initial victor Scott Presti was disqualified due to a protest over a collision with Barnes, and he finished as runner-up in round four.
Barnes races for Maranello Karts USA and is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand, and All Rise Limited.
