Seeding Entering the 2025 SMX Playoffs

The SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Playoffs are set to begin, featuring a significant prize structure. Riders qualify based on combined points from the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross Championships. At the start of the playoffs, points are reset with the top-seeded rider in each class receiving 25 points, second place 22, and so on, emphasizing the importance of every point, as demonstrated by Jett Lawrence's 2024 win over Hunter Lawrence due to more victories despite a points tie.

In the 250SMX class, Haiden Deegan enters as the top seed after winning both the 250SX West Division Supercross Championship and the 250 Pro Motocross title. Jo Shimoda moved up to second from seventh after recovering from a finger injury, while Garrett Marchbanks advanced from eighth to third. Cole Davies, who was third in the 250SX West Championship, missed most of Pro Motocross due to injury and will start the playoffs in 17th place.

Lux Turner remains in 21st place and will compete in the Wild Card race alongside other unseeded riders. Due to injuries to Chance Hymas, Mikkel Haarup, and Michael Mosiman, and RJ Hampshire racing in the 450 class, four additional spots are open, meaning six riders will advance from the Wild Card race instead of the usual two.

In the 450SMX class, Justin Cooper leads with 25 points, benefiting from his consistency by competing in every round so far in 2025. Cooper Webb, the 450 Supercross champion, dropped to fourth after knee surgery, and Chase Sexton fell to sixth from second. Jett Lawrence, despite missing most of supercross with a knee injury, jumped to second after only missing two Pro Motocross rounds.

RJ Hampshire made his 450 debut and finished tenth, qualifying for playoffs in both classes but will race in the 450. Ken Roczen returns from an ankle injury, but Aaron Plessinger, Jason Anderson, and Colt Nichols are out, opening three extra Wild Card spots (five total qualifiers). Riders not in the top 20 must compete in the Wild Card race all three rounds.
