Spain captain Alvaro Morata is set for a new challenge in Serie A next season. After leading Spain to Euro 2024 glory, he left Atletico Madrid for AC Milan at the start of the 2024/25 season, a move he later regretted.
Morata struggled to secure a regular starting spot at AC Milan, leading to a mid-season loan to Galatasaray, where he won the Turkish title. However, Galatasaray will not keep him for 2025/26, and he has no place back at AC Milan.
Former Spain teammate Cesc Fabregas, now managing Como, is aiming to bring Morata to his club. Reports indicate Fabregas reached out about a season-long loan for 2025/26.
AC Milan and Como have agreed a deal to share Morata's wages for the upcoming season. Como president Mirwan Suwarso confirmed: "The agreement with Alvaro Morata is ready. He’s agreed terms, and we’ve reached an agreement with AC Milan. We’re waiting for Galatasaray to speak with Milan." Morata seeks to stay in contention for Spain's World Cup squad.
Despite recent poor showings for Spain, including a missed penalty in the Nations League final loss to Portugal, national team manager Luis de la Fuente has consistently backed Morata as captain.
