“Set to be finalised” – Ben Jacobs provides update on future of £17.2m Chelsea star

Chelsea and Strasbourg are finalizing a loan move for Kendry Paez within the next few days, as reported by Ben Jacobs.

This potential loan falls into Chelsea's broader strategy this summer, which includes both signings like Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, and Jamie Gittens, and managing outgoings, particularly concerning their top youngsters. The club is also actively negotiating deals for Dutch players Jorrel Hato and Xavi Simons.

Paez, a full Ecuador international signed by Chelsea for £17.2m in summer 2023 when he was 16, trained with the first team during the Club World Cup but hasn't made his debut yet. While he has a bright future, supporters will have to wait longer to see him play for Chelsea.

Paez won't be the only Chelsea player moving to Strasbourg on loan. Young goalkeeper Mike Penders, considered "special" by Chelsea, is set for development in Ligue 1. Additionally, defender Mamadou Sarr, signed in January and part of the Club World Cup squad, will also join Strasbourg for a year to benefit from regular playing time.
