Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey has unveiled a special edition New Balance sneaker collection, the Hesi Low v2/1906R pack, inspired by superheroes and comic book art. This collaboration celebrates Maxey's impact both on the court and in the community. Maxey expressed his enthusiasm, stating the design combines his love for basketball and superheroes, aiming for shoes that feel "fast, bold, and creative" like his playing style. He particularly enjoyed designing a lifestyle version of his on-court sneaker and hopes the collection inspires people.
The sneaker pack will be available to the public starting July 31st, online and at select Foot Locker locations in Philadelphia and Dallas, with exact locations to be announced later.
This announcement comes after Maxey ended the 2024-2025 NBA season early due to a finger injury. The Sixers, already out of playoff contention with a 24-58 record, decided rehab was best. The team entered the draft lottery with the fifth-highest odds and ultimately acquired the third overall pick, selecting Baylor's VJ Edgecombe.
Maxey recently confirmed he's back on the court fully and believes he'll be ready for the start of training camp, signaling his expected return for the 2025-2026 season opener. Statistically, he achieved career highs in scoring (26.3 PPG) and assists (6.1 APG) last season, though his shooting efficiency dipped compared to previous years (44% FG, 34% 3PT on high volume).
Maxey and the Sixers view the upcoming 2025-2026 season as an opportunity to bounce back. The All-Star guard looks forward to silencing critics after the team failed to meet preseason expectations last year.
