Sources: 49ers expect QB Jones to start vs. Bucs

Adam Schefter reported on the Pat McAfee show that despite Mac Jones' impressive performance, Brock Purdy remains the San Francisco 49ers' primary quarterback.

Mac Jones, who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game due to an oblique injury, is expected to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to sources. Similarly, wide receiver Jauan Jennings, also questionable with ankle and rib injuries, is anticipated to be available.

Jones played through a knee issue in the previous week's victory over the Los Angeles Rams and indicated that he sustained the oblique injury at the end of that game. He was limited in practice for two consecutive days but expressed optimism about starting, while noting he is still recovering.

There is a possibility that Brock Purdy, the regular starting quarterback, could return for next week's game against the Atlanta Falcons, and the same applies to wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who is recovering from a knee injury.

Jones has appeared in three games for the 49ers this season, and the team has won all of those contests.
