Italian center Andrew Osasuyi has committed to play college basketball for St. Bonaventure University. He is cleared for immediate eligibility and will begin his career with the Bonnies during the 2025-26 season, as confirmed by his agent, Stefano Meller.
Osasuyi, listed at 6-foot-9 with a reported 7-foot wingspan, is noted for his strong defensive presence. He recently anchored Italy's top-ranked defense en route to winning the FIBA U20 Eurobasket championship. In the final against Lithuania on July 20th, he recorded 9 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block in under 23 minutes. Earlier in the tournament against Iceland, he posted 13 points and 12 rebounds. Last year, he averaged 13.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game in FIBA U19 play.
The 19-year-old (turning 20 in December) will compete in the NCAA's Atlantic 10 conference for St. Bonaventure. While the Bonnies (22-12 in 2024-25) didn't reach the NCAA Tournament last season, Osasuyi is viewed as a significant addition who could help elevate the team. His defensive skills and FIBA production suggest he could be an early contributor.
Osasuyi's commitment was secured by St. Bonaventure General Manager Adrian Wojnarowski, a former sports reporter. Wojnarowski's NBA knowledge and connections could potentially aid Osasuyi's future NBA Draft prospects if he has a solid collegiate career. Playing in the NCAA Tournament could further increase his visibility to NBA teams or major college programs via the transfer portal.
