Summer Celtics beat the Grizzlies in first Summer League game, 92-78

The Boston Celtics defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 92-78 in their opening game of the 2025 Las Vegas Summer League at Cox Pavilion. Leading wire-to-wire, Jordan Walsh paced the Celtics with 17 points.

Boston started first-round Spanish prospect Hugo Gonzalez alongside Max Shulga, Amari Williams, Walsh, and Baylor Scheierman. Gonzalez opened the scoring with a tip-in, followed by Scheierman's contested floater. Walsh energized the crowd with a tomahawk dunk and a deep three-pointer for an 11-10 lead. Memphis initially dominated paint scoring, with GG Jackson contributing early. The quarter ended with defensive stands from Charles Bassey (multiple blocks) and bench contributions from Miles Norris (8 points), giving Boston a 22-18 edge.

In the second quarter, Shulga facilitated consecutive baskets for Kendall Brown. Gonzalez hit his first three-pointer before Williams assisted Shulga for a transition dunk. Walsh continued his impact with a contested dunk and smart playmaking, including finding Gonzalez for another three. This exchange capped a 15-point Celtics run, extending their lead to 47-32.

Despite Memphis' early interior success, Boston maintained control through Walsh's scoring outburst and balanced contributions, securing a 14-point victory in their Summer League debut.
