The University of Tennessee has officially announced an exhibition basketball game against Duke University. The matchup is scheduled for Friday, October 26th, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time at the Food City Center (Thompson-Boling Arena). Television broadcast details are not yet available.
Tickets for the exhibition will be sold separately from the season-ticket package. Pricing starts at $35 for lower-level seats and $20 for upper-level seats. Season-ticket holders have the first right of refusal for their current seats until August 8th at 5:00 p.m. ET. Donor presales will occur on August 13th and 14th. General public ticket sales open on August 15th at 10:00 a.m. ET. Tennessee students will be admitted free, with a claim period for student tickets starting October 20th. Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes expressed respect for Duke coach Jon Scheyer and the program, calling it an "exciting opportunity" for players and fans to host a "high-level exhibition game" in Knoxville. He believes the matchup will benefit both teams in preparing for the upcoming season.
The series history between the teams stands at 8-8 across 16 meetings. Tennessee won the most recent game (65-52) in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Duke won the previous meeting in the 2011 Maui Invitational (77-67). Tennessee hasn't hosted Duke since a loss in December 1976.
Tennessee is also reported to open its regular season against Mercer on November 3rd and participate in the Players Era tournament in Las Vegas against Rutgers, Houston, and a third TBD team from November 24th-27th.
