Bleacher Report has identified the greatest NBA player at every height from 5'3" to 7'7", based solely on their Top 100 players of all time list. Players were assigned to heights using their listed height at Basketball Reference, and the highest-ranked player from the B/R Top 100 at each height was selected. Heights without a player on the Top 100 list still received the best player at that height from history, resulting in a representative for every inch except 5'4".
Muggsy Bogues, the only NBA player ever listed at 5'3" and not on the B/R Top 100, is recognized as the greatest at his height. Despite being only 5'3", Bogues is considered among the best players under 6 feet tall. His career spanned 14 seasons, averaging 7.7 points and 7.6 assists per game. Known for his competitiveness and playmaking, he averaged a double-double (10.8 points, 10.1 assists) in the 1993-94 season and maintained averages of 9.5 points and 9.3 assists over a six-year peak from 1989-90 to 1994-95. This level of production from someone his height, playing in a league dominated by much taller players, is deemed remarkable.
There are no players in NBA history listed at 5'4", so that height is skipped. The next height covered is 5'5", represented by Earl Boykins, who also did not make the B/R Top 100. Boykins played 13 seasons, averaging 8.9 points, 3.2 assists, and 0.6 three-pointers per game with a 34.8% three-point shooting percentage.
