Mathieu, who recently retired from the NFL in July 2025, will lead the stadium in the iconic Tomahawk Chop chant by striking the big drum prior to the game.

Mathieu played for the Chiefs from 2019 to 2021 and was a key contributor to the team’s Super Bowl LIV victory. During his tenure, he earned All-Pro honors in both 2019 and 2020. The team made the announcement via a social media post, welcoming him back to Arrowhead Stadium.

In addition to the drum ceremony, fans attending the game can expect various pregame entertainment activities outside the stadium. The event marks a celebratory return for Mathieu, who is recognized for energizing the Chiefs fan base.
