Tim Weah’s agent puts Juventus on blast for holding up Marseille transfer - The Athletic

US men's national team winger Tim Weah is caught in a transfer standoff between Juventus and Olympique de Marseille, causing mounting frustration for the player. Weah rejected a move to Nottingham Forest after Juventus agreed to terms, instead expressing a clear preference to return to Ligue 1, where he previously played for PSG and Lille.

However, the clubs have failed to reach an agreement. Reports indicate Marseille refuses to increase its offer beyond €15 million, while Juventus insists on its €20 million valuation for the player.

Weah's agent, Badou Sambague, publicly expressed frustration, criticizing Juventus management. He stated that while two members of the sporting department are seeking solutions, one unnamed individual is "creating problems" and seeking "revenge" because Weah previously rejected a transfer. Sambague accused this person of botching Weah's Club World Cup participation (where he played only 45 minutes) by leaving him out and trying to force a move, and is now demanding an unrealistic fee while waiting for a Premier League offer that Weah's camp won't approve. The agent condemned these "old-fashioned methods" and disrespect.

Adding to the frustration, Weah missed the Concacaf Gold Cup with the US team to stay with Juventus for the Club World Cup. Weah's side believes Juventus general manager Damien Comolli initially accepted a €14 million offer but is now insisting on €20 million. Weah is keen on joining Marseille to play for manager Roberto De Zerbi and participate in the Champions League, despite having three years left on his Juventus contract.
