Toronto Blue Jays lead the American League standings and reinforcements are coming

The Toronto Blue Jays are currently leading the American League standings and top multiple major league statistical categories. Despite their strong performance, the team is poised to improve further with key players returning from injury.

Outfielder/designated hitter George Springer, among the team's top performers this season, is expected to return during the upcoming three-game series against the Texas Rangers. Springer has been sidelined since July 28 with a concussion after being hit by a pitch in Baltimore. He recently resumed batting practice and was scheduled for a rehabilitation game as DH with Triple-A Buffalo.

In 101 games this season, Springer maintains a .291 batting average with 18 home runs, 57 RBIs, and an .889 OPS. Though primarily serving as DH, manager John Schneider acknowledged potential benefits of increased outfield play while emphasizing Springer's success in the designated hitter role: "I want to keep that going." Schneider highlighted Springer's all-around impact, noting his influence on base running and team morale.

Additionally, newly acquired pitcher Shane Bieber could rejoin the roster later this month. Bieber was scheduled for a Friday start that might mark his final rehabilitation appearance before returning to the Blue Jays rotation.
