Afseth elaborated, citing multiple executives who acknowledged Young's undeniable talent but indicated his fit as a franchise cornerstone would be closely evaluated based on the team's roster construction and leadership infrastructure.

Young, 26, is coming off a strong 2024-25 season where he averaged 24.2 points, 11.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game over 76 appearances, shooting 41.1% from the field and 34% from three-point range. He is recognized as a prolific scorer and playmaker, making him a highly desirable player for teams if he becomes available, though he needs to translate his individual success into winning at a high level.
