The Golden State Warriors, facing a need for perimeter shooting after Klay Thompson's 2024 departure and Buddy Hield's underwhelming performance, considered former Utah guard Gabe Madsen as a potential solution. Madsen participated in the Warriors' Summer League squad.
However, NBA reporter Jon Chepkevich reported that Madsen has agreed to an Exhibit-10 contract with the Miami Heat following his Summer League appearance. This decision came after Madsen impressed with a 22-point performance for Golden State against the Utah Jazz in Las Vegas, where he made six three-pointers in under 17 minutes.
The Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman later clarified that while mutual interest exists between Madsen and the Heat, no formal signing has occurred yet. An agreement would position Madsen as the Heat's 17th contracted player, leaving them four spots below the NBA offseason maximum roster size.
Despite shooting only 32.2% from three-point range during his college career at Utah, Madsen's exceptional long-range display during the Summer League significantly raised his profile among NBA teams.
