What we're hearing and seeing at Jaguars training camp: Hunter making big impact on defense

Jacksonville Jaguars training camp updates include Travis Hunter showcasing defensive skills in his second consecutive practice on that side of the ball. The No. 2 overall pick broke up three passes during 21 snaps in 11-on-11 drills, including a crucial red-zone breakup on the final play against receiver Josh Cephus. He also broke up throws targeting Austin Trammell and Brian Thomas Jr. Hunter has split his practice time, playing exclusively on offense for 36 snaps in the first two practices and exclusively on defense for 47 snaps in the last two.

Offensively, quarterback Trevor Lawrence and receiver Brian Thomas Jr. improved their connection after initial struggles on deep passes. They found success on shorter routes and connected for a leaping touchdown catch by Thomas over cornerback Doneiko Slaughter in the back of the end zone during Sunday's practice.

Defensive end Josh Hines-Allen expressed his ambition to break the NFL's single-season sack record (22.5 sacks) in 2025, stating it's a goal all pass rushers should strive for. He currently needs 2.5 sacks to surpass Tony Brackens' franchise career record of 55 sacks.

Additional standouts include nickel corner Jourdan Lewis, who continued his strong start to camp with daily pass breakups following his recent three-year, $30 million signing. Kicker Cam Little successfully capped off two two-minute drills with field goals, including one from beyond 45 yards.
