Converge’s De Liano is PBA Player of the Week

The Converge FiberXers secured a spot in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup quarterfinals with a twice-to-beat advantage, a first for the franchise since taking over in 2022. They earned this by closing the elimination round with a 107-95 overtime victory over NLEX on December 17, finishing with a 7-4 record and the No. 4 seed.

Rookie guard Juan Gomez de Liano was instrumental in the crucial win, recording a triple-double with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists, along with 4 steals. For his performance from December 15-21, he was named the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week for the third time this conference.

The victory over NLEX was critical; a loss would have given Converge a twice-to-win disadvantage instead. The FiberXers will now face Ginebra in the quarterfinals, a team they defeated in the eliminations, with their first chance to advance to the semifinals coming on Christmas Day.
