Bernardo Silva is reportedly considering a move to Saudi Arabia upon the expiration of his Manchester City contract next summer, following ongoing discussions with Saudi dealmakers that began in the summer of 2023.
Initial interest came from Al Hilal, which offered a contract worth approximately £500,000 per week along with a sign-on fee exceeding £2 million. Despite being linked to a Middle Eastern move again in the summer, Silva opted to remain at Manchester City to focus on the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
Silva remains a key player for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, having started four of the first six Premier League games this season. With over 400 appearances since joining from Monaco in 2017, he has contributed significantly to the club's success, including six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League victory.
At 31 years old, a transfer to Saudi Arabia could represent the final major contract of Silva's career, offering substantial financial benefits. The Saudi Pro League is actively seeking to recruit Portuguese stars, capitalizing on the audience growth following Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Al Nassr in 2023.
The league's international TV rights have expanded, with a 20% revenue increase and coverage in 180 territories through the 2028/29 cycle. Officials aim to sign Silva to a four-year contract to align with this cycle, as Ronaldo's contract is set to expire in 2027 and is unlikely to be renewed.
While Al Hilal is not expected to renew its offer, recent inquiries have emerged from clubs such as Al Ahli and Al Qadsiah. Al Nassr is another potential destination, though it reportedly prioritizes signing Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, who turned down a £700,000-per-week offer from Al Hilal and held talks with other Saudi clubs.
