The Miami Dolphins enter the season facing significant uncertainty, with a toxic organizational culture highlighted as a long-standing problem across the NFL, described as "a feud waiting to happen" by CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin. Benjamin points to both questionable football decisions by GM Chris Grier over nine playoff-winless years and a persistent negative culture.
Following the end of last season, star receiver Tyreek Hill publicly indicated he was "done" with the Dolphins. During offseason activities, he attempted to prove his commitment. However, on the first day of training camp, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa acknowledged that Hill's comments continue to affect the locker room, stating it's a significant issue that requires rebuilding trust and relationships beyond a simple apology.
In response to this situation, analyst Colin Cowherd of "The Herd" believes the Dolphins should trade Hill. He argues that the team is engaging in "hand-holding," that Hill's presence creates uncomfortable tension requiring public explanations from the quarterback, and that the team has reached a point where the cost outweighs the benefit. Cowherd suggests Hill still holds significant trade value, a move could improve the salary cap situation, and removing the source of the tension is often necessary when the starting quarterback publicly acknowledges it.
