The Nike Ja 3, Ja Morant's signature basketball sneaker, has rapidly gained immense popularity in the WNBA even before Morant has had the opportunity to wear most of its unique colorways on an NBA court. Many around the league are already calling it the WNBA's most popular shoe.
This widespread phenomenon was highlighted by SLAM magazine's sneaker page, SLAM Kicks, which posted on X showing four different WNBA players wearing four different colorways of the Ja 3 to near unanimous approval. The post garnered a reaction from Morant himself, who quoted it with an orange heart, the WNBA's signature branding color.
The shoe's success positions it to be a major hit in the upcoming NBA season, especially as WNBA players often set sneaker trends due to their late-summer schedule. The Ja 3 is providing stiff competition for other popular shoes, notably surpassing the Sabrina 2, last season's breakout sneaker from Sabrina Ionescu, in the on-court market according to Moveinsole founder Nate Jones.
Morant is set to begin debuting the sneaker's colorways himself in a few weeks when the Memphis Grizzlies open their preseason. This comes after two seasons significantly shortened for Morant due to suspension and a major injury, making the success of his new signature shoe a potential catalyst for his re-establishment as one of the game's premier players.
