Jones, born January 30, 1998, in Iowa to Michael David Jones and Lori McKinley, has family ties to Davenport. Her mother works as a breast sonographer. Jones attended Davenport West High School, where she was a cheerleader, before studying education at Iowa State University. She became an elementary school teacher at Walcott Elementary School in Iowa.

Jones met Haliburton at Iowa State in 2019 when he played for the Cyclones basketball team and she cheered for them. The couple maintains close friendships with WNBA player Caitlin Clark and her boyfriend Connor McCaffery, keeping an active group chat despite busy schedules.
