Pitt Panthers Transfer Has Eyes on NCAA Tournament

Dishon Jackson, a new transfer center for the Pitt Panthers from Iowa State, discussed his decision to join Pitt and his goals for the upcoming season. He emphasized the significant influence of head coach Jeff Capel, specifically Capel's "belief" in him and his offensive game, noting he already has a good relationship with the coaching staff.

Jackson acknowledged joining a roster with other starting-caliber centers like Cameron Corhen and Papa Amadou Kante. He expressed full confidence in his ability to share the floor effectively with Corhen, stating they complement each other's skills and predicting Pitt will utilize some big lineups this season. While hinting at potential versatility as a stretch-5, Jackson primarily views himself as a "dominate post player" focused on scoring or facilitating.

Jackson highlighted his valuable postseason experience, a rarity among Pitt's younger incoming players. He played in the NCAA tournament's round of 32 with Iowa State and also participated in the NIT while at Washington State. He stressed the difficulty and importance of postseason play, stating he "absolutely" wants to return with Pitt. Jackson believes this experience aids younger players' development, motivates veterans, and provides high-stakes competition against elite talent like future NBA players.

Regarding his transition to Pittsburgh, Jackson found everyone friendly and welcoming. He also has a familiar face in former Iowa State teammate and new Pitt transfer guard Nojus Indrusaitis, whom he called a "lights-out shooter" and recalled their past battles together. Jackson expressed no concerns about team chemistry, asserting that "everyone on the team loves each other" after spending much of the summer together.

Recognizing basketball players as entertainers, Jackson stated the team aims to "put on a show for people watching the games." With his years of college experience, he understands the importance of both entertainment and winning. As he enters his final collegiate season, achieving both at Pitt is his goal.
