The Premier League's substantial spending power enables its clubs to attract top talent from Europe's top leagues, with wealthier English teams often acquiring players from other leagues.
Outside the Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and La Liga have collectively signed over 400 players this summer, excluding loans, highlighting active participation in the transfer market.
The primary market for these leagues is their own country, followed by the other top five leagues: England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France, with specific inter-league connections observed.
In the Bundesliga, teams have focused on acquiring players from the Netherlands and Austria, accounting for 5% and 4% of summer signings since 2020, respectively, but the majority, 49%, come from within Germany, including lower divisions like the 2.Bundesliga and 3.Liga.
Notable Bundesliga clubs such as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund emphasize domestic acquisitions, with Bayern consistently buying league talent and Dortmund signing players like Waldemar Anton and Serhou Guirassy from within the league to fill gaps left by departures.
Contrastingly, Ligue 1 teams have reduced domestic signings, with only 39% of summer acquisitions since 2020 coming from France, a decline from 46% in 2020 to 34% this year, and an increasing reliance on foreign markets, particularly England.
