Rangers have sold Brazilian left-back Jefte to Palmeiras for an undisclosed fee, just 15 months after signing him from Fluminense in the summer of last year.
Jefte, a 21-year-old from Rio, made 56 appearances for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership, with 50 of those being starts, showcasing his role in the team during his time at the club.
Despite signing a four-year contract with Rangers for a reported £680,000 after a season on loan at Apoel where he contributed to winning the Cypriot title, new head coach Russell Martin preferred Max Aarons over Jefte, indicating that Jefte was not part of the long-term plans despite Aarons not being seen as a permanent solution in that position.
Palmeiras, currently sitting third in the Brazilian top flight and four points behind leaders Flamengo, has acquired Jefte, while his former club Fluminense trails by six places and 12 points in the league standings.
