Stephen Curry is expanding his involvement in the bourbon and hospitality industry. In 2023, he launched Gentleman’s Cut Game Changer, a Kentucky straight bourbon aged at least five years, which he described as ideal for celebrations and social gatherings.
As of August 2025, Curry is deepening his stake by opening a Bourbon Steak restaurant and a reservations-only bar called Eighth Rule in San Francisco’s Westin St. Francis Hotel. The venture, developed in partnership with renowned Chef Michael Mina, is expected to employ 150 people. For Mina, this marks a return to the location where he previously operated a restaurant that closed in 2016.
The new bar will seat 40 guests, feature a bourbon lounge, and operate until 2 a.m. The restaurant menu will include dishes such as crab cakes with red curry coconut sauce, tomahawk steak, lobster pot pie, and desserts like beignets and chocolate fondue.
Both Curry and Mina expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting it as an opportunity to contribute to San Francisco’s dining and social scene. Mayor Daniel Lurie also endorsed the opening, noting it will support the city’s downtown revitalization and enhance its culinary landscape.
