UCU Lady Canons draw first blood against KIU Rangers | NBL Playoffs 2025

UCU Lady Canons defeated KIU Rangers 68-57 in the opening game of the 2025 National Basketball League playoffs, held at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday evening.

The Lady Canons established an early lead, ending the first quarter 12-08, and extended their advantage to 34-23 by halftime, with Djenabo Ballo contributing a key jump shot just before the break.

Maintaining control in the third quarter, UCU held a 54-44 lead and ultimately secured an 11-point victory by the end of the game.

Top performers for UCU Lady Canons included Hajara Najjuko and Matrina Anyango, each scoring 13 points, and Sylivia Nantongo with 11 points. For KIU Rangers, Djeneba Ballo led with 15 points, followed by Ines Kanyamuneza with 12 and Sharon Kirabo with 10 points.
