Aces’ A’ja Wilson torches Valkyries to become fastest ever to reach WNBA mark

A'ja Wilson delivered a dominant performance for the Las Vegas Aces against the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center. She scored 27 points on highly efficient 8-for-11 shooting, adding 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. The Valkyries struggled to contain her offensively and defensively, as she also sank all 11 of her free throw attempts, including two crucial ones to seal the victory with 34.9 seconds left.

Wilson made WNBA history during the game by becoming the fastest player ever to reach at least 5,000 career points and 500 career blocks. She achieved the 500-block milestone in her 253rd career game, having already surpassed 5,000 points. The Aces celebrated this achievement on social media, calling the "M'V3" (three-time MVP) the fastest to reach this combined mark.

Entering the game, Wilson was already a member of the 5,000-point club. Her blocks in this game marked her 499th and 500th. For the current season, she is averaging 21.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game while shooting 49.0% from the field.

Following this win over the Valkyries, the Aces improved their record to 16 wins. Riding the momentum of back-to-back victories against Golden State, Wilson and the Aces will next host the Seattle Storm at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
