Former Bournemouth and Newcastle United defender Lloyd Kelly has enjoyed a remarkable week with Juventus, scoring crucial goals in two high-profile matches. On Saturday, he netted his first goal for the club in a 4-3 win against Inter Milan in the Derby d'Italia, which was also the first top-flight goal of his career. Then, on Tuesday, he scored a dramatic 96th-minute equalizer in an incredible 4-4 Champions League draw against Borussia Dortmund.
Kelly's achievements carry historical significance: he became the first English defender to score for Juventus in Serie A, and his goal against Dortmund marked the first time an English player has scored for the Italian club in the Champions League. He is only the second British player to achieve this, after Aaron Ramsey in 2019. Notably, Kelly had previously gone without scoring in the Premier League during his time at Bournemouth and Newcastle, with his last goal occurring 18 months ago in an FA Cup match.
Kelly joined Juventus on an initial loan deal from Newcastle in February, with the move becoming permanent in the summer for €17.5 million plus add-ons. His recent back-to-back goals in major fixtures represent a significant personal milestone, highlighting his rapid impact at one of Europe's most prestigious clubs.
