Dan Meis, the renowned US architect who masterminded Everton's new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium, is now aiming to design a new stadium for Birmingham City. Meis's work on Everton's 52,769-capacity venue, which has received positive reviews for its acoustic design and historical elements, serves as a foundation for this new ambition.
The project involves compatriot Tom Brady and Tom Wagner from Knighthead, who plan to develop a Sports Quarter in Birmingham with billions in funding, including a sports campus and training facilities. At the core of this initiative is a proposed 62,000-capacity stadium for Birmingham City, reflecting the club's ambitious goals in the Championship.
Meis announced at the SVB conference at Villa Park that his firm, AECOM, is actively seeking to take on both the Sports Quarter and stadium projects, leveraging his extensive experience in designing venues across North America, Asia, and Europe to bring this vision to reality.
