ESPN will honor WNBA star Diana Taurasi and USWNT legend Alex Morgan with the shared Icon Award at the 2025 ESPYS. The award recognizes their incredible careers and significant impact on sports, following Nick Saban who received it last year.
Diana Taurasi, an 11-time WNBA All-Star widely considered one of basketball's greatest players and voted the WNBA's GOAT in 2021, retired as the league's all-time leading scorer (10,646 points) and ranks fourth in assists (2,394). Her team achievements include three WNBA championships (with two Finals MVPs), three NCAA titles at UConn, and six Olympic gold medals.
Alex Morgan, an Olympic gold medalist (2012) and two-time World Cup winner (2015, 2019), is a key figure in the USWNT's "golden generation," earning 224 caps and scoring 123 goals (fifth all-time). At the club level, she won a treble with Olympique Lyonnais (2016-17), the WPS title with Western New York Flash (2011), and the NWSL championship with Portland Thorns (2013). Off the pitch, Morgan played a pivotal role in the USWNT's successful fight for pay equity, achieved in 2022.
