Hero American tourist and model reveals extent of facial injuries suffered while defending two women in Germany

An American tourist, John Rudat, was stabbed while defending two women from attackers on a tram in Dresden, Germany, during an incident where a locally-known drug dealer and his accomplice were accosting the women.

In his first interview since the attack, Rudat, a 21-year-old model from upstate New York, revealed that he suffered severe injuries, including his nose being severed in two and a cut to his lip, and he was nearly blinded as the knife nicked his eyelid. He remains hospitalized but stated that he will wear his scars with pride, believing his actions were worth it.

One of the suspected attackers, a 21-year-old Syrian national, was arrested but later released due to a lack of evidence, while the other attacker remains at large, as reported by German outlet Bild.

Following the attack, Rudat criticized the perpetrators and initially condemned Europe's "immigration problem" in an Instagram video. However, in the interview, he clarified that the core issue is violence, not race or skin color, emphasizing that he intervened to protect women from harassment and assault, and would have done so for any woman against any man.

Rudat was in Germany visiting his former host family from his exchange student days and noted that the city seemed more dangerous compared to his previous visit.
