Purdue guard recruit Omer Mayer is scheduled to play for Israel in the FIBA U20 EuroBasket tournament, starting with a game against Spain on Saturday, July 12, at 8:30 a.m. ET. This game will be streamed on FIBA TV's YouTube page.
Mayer recently competed for Israel in the FIBA U19 World Cup, where the team achieved a 4-2 record and a seventh-place finish. During the tournament, he averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game across four appearances. Notably, he set a single-game scoring record for the event with 33 points in Israel's Round of 16 victory over Cameroon (86-82).
However, Mayer's participation in the U19 World Cup was cut short. He sustained a finger injury following Israel's quarterfinal game against Slovenia, which forced him to miss the team's final two games. Medical examinations revealed no fracture, but he sat out as a precaution to prevent further injury.
Mayer, a four-star recruit and member of Purdue's 2025 recruiting class, is participating in these FIBA events before arriving at Purdue in West Lafayette.
