Dirty Skirty, a Florida-based rock band led by frontman Luke Stephens, released their third studio album 'Aces In Your Faces' on August 1, 2025. The band formed in Tallahassee, Florida, around 2007, originating from Stephens and Scott Beasley meeting at a party. They recruited members, including convincing a drummer and "cornering" a bassist, with their shared love for rock n' roll driving the project forward naturally.
Reflecting on the Florida music scene circa 2007-2008, Stephens noted it felt "pretty good" then, but observes a significant shift now. He highlighted a key difference: fewer original rock bands actively playing live compared to 17 years ago, though he acknowledged strong regional variations. He pointed out robust rock scenes and support still exist in places like Spain, England, and the Northeastern US, and mentioned events like Rock Fest '80s and cruises where established bands perform.
Stephens also discussed the long gap between Dirty Skirty's second album, 'Rebel', and their new third album 'Aces In Your Faces', humorously comparing the 11-year interval to Guns N' Roses' 'Chinese Democracy' delay. The interview coincided with the release of 'Aces In Your Faces', marking 15 years since their well-received 2010 debut 'Long Live Rock N' Roll'.
